Description
I am a Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the Department of Oral Health at the University of Zimbabwe Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. I have several publications in refereed Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Lately, I have been publishing in Health Professions Education following my MPhil in health professions education. I was Dean of the then University of Zimbabwe College of Health Sciences, January 2007 to December 2o17. During this period I was involved in research capacity-building grants, Wellcome Trust, NIH, and Norwegian funding. This led to an increased number of junior staff acquiring PHDs. My research activities have been in HIV and AIDS in relation to Oral Health. Currently, I am working on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic with regard to e-learning. I was instrumental in establishing a Research Support Centre, to assist management and sourcing of research grants. In health professions education I also established the simulation/skills laboratory for students in training. I am active in clinical Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. I also hold qualifications in International Research Ethics and Clinical Epidemiology.
