Biography

Joseph Ntayi is a Professor at Makerere University Business School and served as the former Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Energy, and Management Sciences at Makerere University Business School (MUBS), a position he relinquished in July 2023. Prior to this, he held several notable positions within the institution, including Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Management Science, Head of the Department of Marketing, Procurement, and Logistics Management. With over three decades of dedicated service to Makerere University, Makerere University Business School, and the government of Uganda, Prof. Ntayi has made significant contributions across various roles in Development Finance, Foreign Trade, Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Development Economics, and Strategic Management. Prof. Joseph M. Ntayi is a luminary in both the academic and professional spheres, celebrated for his profound impact as an international scholar, insightful consultant, and pioneering social entrepreneur. His extensive expertise and steadfast commitment to social and economic development have placed him at the forefront of global thought leadership. Prof. Ntayi is an accomplished educator, having overseen the successful completion and graduation of over 45 doctoral students. He has co-authored more than 200 articles for internationally acclaimed journals, covering a wide range of research interests including Development Finance, Development Economics, Microfinance, Energy Economics, Public Sector Procurement, Supply Chain and Logistics, Public Sector Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Positive Psychology, and Public health. His publishing achievements are visible on the internet. In February 2021, 2022, January 2023, and January 2024, Prof. Ntayi received prestigious accolades from the International Scientific Scholars Forum, recognizing him as one of the top scholars in the world and acknowledging his excellence in Business & Management and Strategic Management. Furthermore, he has been recognized as the leading Strategic Management Scientist in Uganda and the Second most prominent in this field across Africa. In an era where the pursuit of knowledge navigates the intricate interplay between theory and practice, the recognition of Professor Joseph Ntayi by the Vice Chancellor of Makerere University during the 74th graduation convocation stands as a testament to scholarly excellence and the enduring importance of rigorous academic investigation. Recognized as the premier researcher within the Makerere University Business School, Professor Ntayi's collection of over 198 Co-authored publications not only marks a significant path of scholarly dedication but also embodies the essence of a philosophical commitment to truth, ethical exploration, and the advancement of human knowledge. This honor, awarded among a group of distinguished scholars each acknowledged for their contributions with at least five publications since 2017, highlights the collaborative spirit and intellectual energy that permeate the halls of Makerere University. Professor Ntayi's work, which transcends disciplinary limits, addresses the critical questions of our era, fostering dialogue and setting the stage for future generations of thinkers and leaders. As we acknowledge this distinction, we celebrate not just the volume of publications but the depth of insight, the bravery in exploring new frontiers, and the steadfast commitment to enriching the body of human knowledge. The recognition, though a symbol of gratitude, is dwarfed by the immeasurable gift of knowledge and wisdom Professor Ntayi has imparted to the world. May this acknowledgment act as a milestone, inspiring ongoing exploration, discovery, and the relentless pursuit of truth. Prof. Ntayi contributes his expertise as a reviewer and serves on the editorial boards of several international peer-reviewed journals. He is also a board member of the World Association for Sustainable Development, a member of the Emerald Research Network, the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Management, the International Association of Energy Economics (IAEE), the Chartered Institute of Marketing (MCIM), and other professional organizations.
